As a very anxious person myself, dealing with anxiety is not easy at all, but there is hope. God has left us a whole book of instructions on how to deal with it, and how to learn to overcome it.

The avant-garde network of psychics explain that a thought overpowers your mind, that is all you can think about to the point of obsessing. Then your body starts reacting in so many different ways: shaking, sweating, your heart is racing, you might even think you are experiencing a heart attack. You become angry and extremely emotional, you may think you are dying. That is what anxiety does for me, this is how I have allowed my brain to rule over my whole being. I know I am not alone, the word anxiety has become so common in our society that we think it is normal. Well, according to the Bible, it is not.

Philippians 4:6-7 says: “Do not be anxious about ANYTHING but in everything, by prayer and petition with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in the Christ Jesus.” This is my life verse.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is the ongoing burden of worry and fear; this overwhelming feeling first manifested with Adam and Eve when instead of running back to Go, they hid from Him.

Genesis 3:8b-10

“…And they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden… He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

That is what the enemy, Satan, wants. He desires for us to be as far away from God as possible so we can’t fight back, so we lose faith and our spirits become weak and vulnerable, that is when anxiety kicks in.

No wonder the Bible tells us more than 350 times to “FEAR NOT”. God is not suggesting us not to worry, He is commanding us NOT TO.

It is not good for us, spiritually, emotionally, and even physically. We get paralyzed when we are anxious, we feel like we cannot move an even breathing becomes extremely hard.

 2 Timothy 1:7

“For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of Power, and of Love, and of Self-Discipline.”

Anxiety keeps us away from God. It doesn’t allow us to THRIVE the way He wants us to do so; when worry and fear invade our minds and hearts, we are only surviving, not living to our full potential as believers created in God’s image.

Matthew 6:25 and 6:27

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…….Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

When we allow anxiety to rule over us, we focus our attention on the situation instead of focusing on the power and love of your creator.

Throughout the years,  I have learned to pray harder when I begin to feel afraid. I have also memorized a few scriptures that allow my spirit to go back to God and find peace. The wonderful peace that only He can provide.

So instead of hiding from the Lord, let us come closer to him with our fears and problems. This is what He wants, He cares for us, He loves us.

1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you.”

Once we do this, fear has to flee because there is no room for it in our hearts.
